“Bikeman I presume?”. We’d be in touch by e-mail. Worked at the imaginatively titled “Flying Ball Bicycle Company” in central Hong Kong. Best stocked cycle shop since Germany. But, unfortunately, geared more to the road racing market than touring. Still able to provide a few items I was after, just not as much as I’d hoped for.
He’d not the beard I’d imagined. But an intriguing individual nevertheless. Born a Brit but, by his own admission, he’d been here so long he was now thoroughly “Asianised”. Keen triathalete. Bright pink kit. But still no idea what his real name was. Didn’t really matter. “Bikeman” seemed far more apt.
Ken, so you are in HK? now I am in Thailand on a remote island called Koh Phra Thong running an Eco resort. Are you coming through Thailand? If so which coast are you coming down – Im on the West – just off a little town called Kuraburi south of Ranong. Let me know which way you are coming and I can help you out with a place to stay. Email or facebook me. Keep on pushing my friend!
Hi Myles – Not quite in HK yet – had nipped down briefly to get a fresh visa then back to the road. Will be arriving shortly before Christmas, then Australia in the new year. So, alas, not coming to Thailand, for the moment at least. Decided on sensible pace in China rather than rush south – sort of quality v quantity. And HK, by any measure, marks the completion of Asia – second continent in the bag! Sounds like you’re having a great time – drop us an e-mail and let me know what your plans are for 2011? And Emma says thanks for the lock – she’s very appreciative of it, often chastises me for the terrible one I started with… Ken
